In designing this contemporary farmhouse in the rural fields of Pennsylvania, MaMo Architects used A-Series windows to create a home that prioritizes energy efficiency and responds to the location while still fitting a limited budget. When choosing the size of the windows, the team wanted large openings that allowed for plenty of natural light. Large windows usually mean less energy efficiency, but the triple-pane glass offered with our A-Series is a great option for maximizing performance. While the front, northern facade of the house features small windows, much larger openings feature at the back of the house revealing more of the scenic landscape. Some of the windows reach a height of 12 feet, which was made possible without weakening the structure by the poured concrete shell. The customization available with A-Series windows allows for black exteriors and white interiors. From the outside, the dark frames blend in with the dark cladding materials helping the home present harmoniously in its agrarian environment. While inside, white interiors support a bright, modern feeling. The Charred Barn, a project name inspired by the charred wood cladding on the first floor, offers the perfect contemporary rural home for its owners.
Impressive views of the meadow are revealed through A-Series Awning, Casement, and Picture Windows with black exteriors that blend seamlessly into the dark siding.
